We seek individuals for the Backstage Rialto Board who have a genuine interest in our organization and mission and seek to use their experience, time and expertise to support the group and the Rialto Theater.

The recruitment, application, and onboarding process:

  • Current Board members or staff suggest new members to the nominating committee.

  • Members of the Board will connect with the prospective board member to confirm interest, answer preliminary questions, and provide prospective board member with the intro packet which includes: board expectations, recruitment process, bylaws and application (Directs applicant to website)

  • Prospective board member completes and returns application to Board members.

  • Application is sent out to the Board prior to the next meeting;

  • A small group (3-4) of current board members will meet with the applicant, interview them and answer their questions.

  •  Current Board member or staff who nominated the applicant will lead the application review during the Board meeting.

  • If applicant is approved, they will be contacted by members of the Board and asked to officially join the board and attend the next Board meeting.

  • If the applicant is not approved, the individual will receive a follow-up letter thanking them for their interest and letting them know the Board will not be moving forward with them.


There is an expectation that all Backstage Rialto Board members contribute financially in some manner to the organization. We ask that you give at a level you can be proud of, whether that be: becoming a regular theater patron, using your network and influence to bring in fundraising dollars, or making a monetary donation to Backstage Rialto.

There is also an expectation that you be able to attend monthly Board meetings held on the last Thursday of every month from 12pm-1pm as well as the Backstage Rialto fundraising events.
